Words of Inspiration and Motivation

I am not here to save the world. I truly believe I am here to make a difference and to me making a difference may sometimes mean helping one child be successful in the classroom.  You know, for me, that one little sparkle will make a difference throughout the whole day. Raymond Hernandez

I see early education as a civil rights issue… Everyone should have the right to have a childhood and educational context experience throughout your life cycle that opens up a world to you, that gives you the tools you need to ask questions and investigate things. Those are the things that I want for all children.  Renatta M. Cooper

“Take your ego out of it, think about what is best for the child. Help them transition to what’s next.”Renatta M. Cooper

“The best economic development strategy is investment in early childhood.” — Art Rolnick

“The quality of life for a child and the contributions the child makes to society as an adult can be traced back to the first few years of life. From birth until about 5 years old a child undergoes tremendous growth and change. If this period of life includes support for growth in cognition, language, motor skills, adaptive skills and social-emotional functioning, the child is more likely to succeed in school and later contribute to society. However, without support during these early years, a child is more likely to drop out of school, receive welfare benefits and commit crime.” Rolnick, A

  1. I love and live by this quote “Model the behavior you want to teach. Don’t preach.” Yes this is so true in today’s society. We are always preaching what we want but never modeling the behaviors or responses we want. This goes for everything we do in life from working with kids to our relationship, careers and personal life. If all we do is talk about it and never display it (model) then how will anyone ever know what we are saying because all they hear is the preaching and not the teaching. Thanks for sharing this quote.

  2. Hello,
I love the quote by Renatta M. Cooper; it is so true that as a teacher, we need to take our ego out of it. There have been so many times as an early childhood teacher that a child’s transition has been unnecessarily rough due to teachers’ egos getting in the way. I think I will share this quote with my work to remind everyone we are there for the children. Thank you for sharing the other quotes also related well to this field.

  3. Renatta Cooper’s quote about education as a civil right really speaks to me. Children do not have the luxury of choosing their biology not their environment. They should all be given equal opportunities to start their educational journey with quality teachers, quality environments, and quality experiences. I watched a documentary recently where a mother in an affluent area claimed she wanted equality for all children but felt that her economic status should provide better education for her own children than for children in families of lower status. If teacher’s, however feel all children should be equally advantaged, we will inspire a generation of children who value the human race with fewer bias. thanks for sharing!
